Excited to be here … all a daze with stars …

Hi everyone, it’s my first time here on the Bubbly Funk blog sharing my first project using the December “Through the Letterbox” kit. I suppose it is only polite that I should introduce myself to you all before sharing. Now where shall I begin … my name is Louise but known as Lou to family and friends. I was introduced in to the world of crafting about 9 years ago and I am still in love with this wonderful hobby sharing when I can, on my blog – Lou Sims, Papercrafter. I live with my supportive hubby and mad springer spaniel. My sons have now flown the nest embarking on their own adventures. I am extremely pleased to be here at Bubbly Funk and am looking forward to sharing my ideas with you.

Upon opening my box, I was immediately drawn to the wonderful fabrics and trim and knew they would have to feature in my project. The gorgeous paper bags that all the yumminess is encased in were also too good to be ‘recycled’ unless they were being used in a project and yep, that’s exactly what I did.

I have used several of the bags to create the cover for my notebook holder, along with the gold material. To cover all the edges I have used the beautiful gold/copper & silver ribbon. After gluing everything in place, I used the star stencil to add detail with gold mousse. Next came the glitter stars which I have layered on top of each other. To break up the design, I have added some topper panels which have been embossed, finished off with gold & copper mousse.

My design felt flat, so I added some wooden stars – again coloured with gold & bronze mousse. I have added my pages using elastic so when they are completed, they can be removed and new pages added. To protect everything, I added an acetate cover which has made photographing the notebook a little tricky.

So there it is, my first project for both Bubbly Funk and also using the December “Through the Letterbox” kit. Pop over to the Bubbly Funk shop and grab your kit HERE.
