Spring Wall Hanging
Hello!
A couple of weeks ago I made an inky background using various inks including Distress Oxides, regular DIs and some other chalk inks in the colours I needed. I suppose I found myself in a bit of a ‘Tim Holtz’ mood – I even got the craft sheet thing out, and a bottle of water and heat gun too! To cut a long story short, if you’ve got all the gear out you might as well do a few backgrounds and hope they’ll come in handy later. Which is why quite a few projects have features the same sort of colours recently.
I thought this piece of card had a lovely flowery, chintzy look to it (purely accidental, of course!) and would make a pretty backdrop for little Spring picture, or wall hanging.
The SPRING letters are die cut once in more of the inked card, then a couple more times from black card before gluing in place. I daubed a bit of gold Glitter Gel in the corner and added one of the pretty postage stamps from the Hello Spring box. Next I added a few die cut flowers and leaves until I was happy with the arrangement, and inked up one of the wooden butterflies in a purple shade to match the flower on the stamp.
I think it looked a bit ‘wishy -washy’ so added the black accents; the ric-rac braid, the gems and the black framing square. For the fancy frame, I inked another piece of card, using a single colour of the inks I’d used preciously, then die cut the frame.
To finish I chose a ribbon from the craft box which matched that of the die cut leaves to make a bow, and used a piece of twine to make a hanging loop.
From the Hello Spring box I used
1x Postage Stamp
1x Wooden Butterfly
Ribbon
From my stash I used, inked card scraps, die cut flowers, leaves letters and frame, gems and braid
