Dream Layout – from Sarah

This time Guest Contributor Sarah is back with us and  she’s used lots of elements from the “One Happy Day” Through the Letterbox craft box to create her beautiful “DREAM” Layout

Here’s Sarah to tell you all about it:

I created a LO of myself,  it’s something I don’t do often as I just hate having my picture taken!  However, in this selfie culture we have become, I actually found a pic of me that I liked.

It was the wrong colour as I was wearing green and the “One Happy Day” craft box has a pink and purple theme. So I went online and found a great app called Portra, which turns your photos into colourful watercolour effect images. I re-coloured it to a pink, purple and blue design and printed out the pic.  I mounted it on black cardstock

Next i cut some of the patterned papers from the kit into 3 x 3 squares, nine in total and mounted them into black Cardstock before mounting the grid onto white cardstock. I stuck strips of decoupage paper and strips of denim across the bottom of the grid background before adding my photo to the page. i added journalling cards, and a doily heart around the photo to embellish it.

I wanted to try a few new things. I love dream catchers and feathers and wanted to have ago at making some paper feathers. I searched the internet for some free paper templates, printed them out, stuck them to my cream cardstock and the purple paper from the kit and cut them out. I used a score board and bone folder to make a vein down the middle before inking with purple distress ink. I set aside for later.

Next I  made some flowers to match the background papers and photo. I got out some brusho’s and created some bright backgrounds.

Once dry, I used the negative space from the die-cut flower in the kit as a template. I cut out lots and lots of flowers, as each flower had 3 layers and began to build little paper flowers. Once dry, I inked them all in blue and purple ink.

Now I began to put the LO together. I added a little bow from the sheer ribbon and then began arranging the paper flowers around the bottom and side of the photo. I filled in any gaps with bunches of paper flowers and embellishments before adding a large dream title.

From “One Happy Day” craft box I used:

Spotty papers

Purple sheer ribbon

Small Flowers

Bling flowers

Large brad

‘Negative’  flower shape from the MME die cut sheet

From my stash I used: Black, white and cream 12 x 12 Cardstock, Water colour Cardstock, Brusho’s, Distress inks, Denim decoupage paper, Strips of denim, Thickers title sticker
