Hi, today’s project is a wall hanging I made using a stencil and greyboard from the store:
I took the greyboard which comes with stencil #13 Snips and prepared it with white gesso. I painted over it with light yellow acrylic paint- I really like the way you can still see the background patteren through this layer.
Next I added Distress Oxides through stencil #15 Live Life Well. I chose Oxides because they produce a more vibrant colour, using Dried Marigold, Twisted Citron and Wilted Violet. By using finger sponge daubers, I was able to maintain the detail without any colour mixing. It was so easy even my 7 yr old helped!
Next, I prepared a greyboard butterfly with gesso then covered it with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide. I removed some of the colour with a baby wipe, to give a more distressed look, then inked the edges. I added the butterfly to my panel with strong glue. I finished off with some pearls before making two holes and adding twine ready for hanging
As you can see, this looks great hung on my hall wall:
