Tutorial – Star Flowers

So I’m a little bit gelli plate obsessed at the mo!!

I bought a set of the mini shapes… mainly for the 3” hexagon because hexagons feature quite a lot in my house. They also compliment my AAll & Create Tracy Evans set #208. When I got this cute little print yesterday using the lovely star stencil from Paige Taylor Evans things fell in to place.

The background was done with the shaving foam technique that Tracy uses a lot in her designs through the star stencil. The gelli print was done with mica powder stencilled on then a couple of layers of acrylic paint, printed on to a piece of kraft cardstock. The texture comes from a previous print I did on to a little canvas.

Once I had decided where I was putting the gelli print I added the stamped hexagons from set #208 around it using Hickory Smoke Oxide Ink and Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

The flower image from set #200 was stamped with a combo of watering can archival, worn lipstick oxide and Versacraft cherry pink then a central circle from stamp set #133 in the faded jeans ink. I added some texture paste through the star stencil, then grounded the flower with some of the blue ink.

I added torn strips of paper from a vintage invoice book, then overstamped with one of the stalks from the flowers in set #200. The small flower was from a set of my own. Then edged the card with the blue ink, and a few splatters of white posca to finish off.

I think the final result looks quite wintery and would make a lovely Christmas card.

Lots of hugs, Julie
