Happy Birthday card!

Hello. I hope you are all coping OK with lock down. I am spending quite a lot of time in my craft room but the days still seem to go quickly!!

Anyway I have been playing around with Distress Oxides. I’ve had these for ages but haven’t got round to using them much so I challenged myself to come up with some projects using them and have done a couple of cards I would like to share with you.

This week I will share this simple “Happy Birthday” card. I cut the greeting from a die from black card.

To make the background I used some bubble wrap! I picked up a little ink from the ink pads and gently dabbed it onto the center of the card and then smudged it a bit. I like to have a trial piece of paper standing by to do a first off practice on Just in case it all goes wrong! Plus you can get an idea of the effect and not put too much ink on your page!

I did the same with a second colour and then misted very lightly with a spray of water. Not too much! Then I gently rubbed the inked area with the bubble wrap to blend the colours together.

It really was as simple as that! I like to make my cards “pop” a bit so I often draw round the edge with a black journaling pen for extra effect, Plus in this case I used a black piece of card for a mount.

Go and get those oxides out and have a play!!!

Stay safe. See you next week!
