Pretty Pastels

Last Monday was Blue Monday, apparently, and it definitely felt like a long, difficult week last week. Add a streaming cold this weekend and I’m all ready for Spring to arrive soon, please!

To bring a bit of Spring to my craftroom, I have created a pretty pastel card today, using some Distress Inks and a Bubbly Funk stencil.

I began by using the whole stencil to create my background by blending Shaded Lilac and Spun Sugar Distress Ink onto 14cm square watercolour card.

Next, I used just the centre of the same stencil and the same colours on a 8cm square of card to create my centre panel. I added this to a piece of pink card and then to my background.

My next step was to wrap ribbon around the front of my card, securing it at the back, before I added the whole panel to a 14.5cm square of pink card and onto a 6×6 card blank. I added a small topper and sentiment to my card, along with gems and a bow to finish.

Sometimes using stencils can be a bit daunting, particularly if you favour a clean and simple look. This card shows how effectively stencils can be used to provide a background for other elements already in your stash- it’s a great way to introduce stencils to your work.

The lovely stencil I used for this card is Bubbly Funk stencil #9 Expand, which comes with matching greyboard, and is available to buy here

Don’t forget that the Bubbly Funk website also has Distress Inks for sale. The two colours I have used are in Mini Kit #4

See you next week, Cathy x
